Haiti's Orphanages - How to support this effort
Help Us Help - 1000 Children in Haiti
It can cost as much as $2000 - $3000 USD per year to feed, house, clothe and educate an orphan child in Haiti. Almost half this cost is devoted to the child's education while the remainder is spent safeguarding the welfare of the child. Our initiative is to seek out,collaborate and form alliances with orphanages in Haiti to help bring awareness, additional support and financial assistance through donors, grants and dedicated supporters from the international community and the diaspora.
Our 2022-2023 goals is to bring stabilization and sustainability to at least 10 orphanages in Haiti with an average of 50+ - 100 kids per orphanage ultimately helping no less than 1000 Children in Haiti in this time span. The fundraising goal is no less than 3 million USD. Yes, this seems steep but with your support we can provide the much needed support and close the gap that many of these organizations experience on a day to day basis.
The Orphanage Crisis in Haiti
Our most recent research found that an estimate of 30,000 children in Haiti live in orphanges with many more having to spend time in and out at some point in their lives. Desperate parents are often misled to relinquishing their children to for-profit orphanages under a misguided and false promise of a "better life" for their children. Haiti has seen a 150 percent increase in the number of orphanages after the 2010 earthquake. Finding legitimate, and trust-worthy organizations is a challenge.
