‘Vegetarian History Day’ honors Rynn Berry
January 31, 2017
January 31 is designated Vegetarian History Day commemorating the life and work of Professor Rynn Berry (1/31/1945 – 1/9/2014); as proposed by Jerrilyn Halbert, recorded by The American Vegan Society
“Jan. 31 is the birthday of Rynn Berry an expert on the historical roots of the vegetarian/vegan movement, who dedicated his life to educating others about veganism and its roots. He authored five books—The New Vegetarians, Famous Vegetarians, Food for the Gods: Vegetarianism and the World’s Religions, Hitler: Neither Vegetarian Nor Animal Lover, and The Vegan Guide to New York City. Rynn coauthored a sixth book—Becoming Raw, with vegan nutritionists Vesanto Melina and Brenda Davis.
Rynn’s articles have appeared in numerous well-respected journals and magazines. Vegetarian History Day was proposed by Jerrilyn Halbert, a good friend of Rynn’s and a leader of Vegan World Radio, a program broadcast out of Houston Texas that reports on the vegan movement from many angles. Four Rynn videos are on American Vegan Society YouTube channel.” ~http://americanvegan.org/ImportantDays.html.

EarthSave Florida’s Vegtastic Arts Initiative (links performing-fine-creative arts with vegan messaging) holds a special place for the insightful and entertaining works of vegan Playwright, Rynn Berry whose six One-Act Historical Re-enactment Plays form a nucleus for Vegtastic Theatre Arts. Jeff ‘VeganMan’ Tucker and Prof. Estela ‘WindWalker’ Delgado paid tribute by introducing an excerpt from ‘Mona Lisa’s Smile’ at the 44th World Vegfest in Buenas Aires and identifying the sculture of da Vinci at Roxlin Museum, Argentina.
“Clearly my portrayal of da Vinci was second-best, following a Hollywood dialect coach at the skit’s Summerfest debut, but Rynn accorded me his top spot as a working actor.” ~Tucker
Veteran Director-Producer-Actor Herman Levern Jones (Founder, TheatreSouth) often brings his Shakespearean stage presence to our casual skits. Wife, Carolyn Jones, MS is a two-year vegan.
NOTE: The American Vegan Society and EarthSave Florida are jointly-resolved to promote Vegetarian History Day and welcome public input to further awareness of Rynn’s academic and artistic endeavors on behalf of veganism.
