Help Us Help - 55 Kids in Haiti

Our communication outreach often extends past our supporters, partnering organizations, and friends of Help Haiti NGO. It is quite often that our message to Help Haiti reaches those that are in need of help. When this is the case it is almost certain that we will find a new village that we must add to our seed distribution list and other program initiatives. When we find these communities or villages or they find us the exchange of information begins immediately. We of course vet and verify to ensure that our donor's dollars go directly toward helping those truly in need.

 

Learn More About Gens-De-Nantes Children’s Home

It was June 2, 2022, 10:37 am when through Facebook messenger a message was sent to Help Haiti NGO’s inbox. The message was from a gentleman name Hernby Elvetus that lives in Gens-De-Nantes a village in the Ouanaminthe Department of Haiti. Hernby told us he and his father Pastor Elvetus Elve, are working and supporting 55 orphans and is struggling to feed them. We quickly jumped into action and started to collect information from Hernby to ensure his village and children are included in the first distribution run of our Seeds for Haiti program.

These two extraordinary men have been helping the young in Haiti since 2010. They started an orphanage in 2012 and have been working with the youth in Gens-De-Nantes. They call it Club des Jeunes (translation is: youth club). The focus of this children's home is on education. The organization is instilling healthy living habits, self-care, and life prevention to reduce sickness, early pregnancy, and death.

Currently, they have no kitchen. The children, ranging in age from 2 to 15, are learning to farm, cook and provide for themselves as they get older. In talks with Hernby, we also learned that the kids are in need of shoes and clothing. We knew immediately we needed to coordinate a focused effort to get these bare essentials to our friends in Gens-De-Nantes. We found an organization called Because International whose mission is to provide solutions to fighting poverty worldwide.

We find this organization doing more than just providing shoes. Because International has taken into consideration the growth of the children that receive their shoes by creating a shoe that expands 5 sizes and can last for years. This awesome nonprofit understands that children are extremely vulnerable to diseases and parasites that can be transmitted through soil that can cause serious illness and even death. Because International has the foresight and vision that we need to help Haiti.

Why Gens-De-Nantes Children's Home in Haiti

Our overall project mission is not limited to the children of Gens-De-Nantes. We must start someplace and this community and its supporters are highly motivated and ready to help us show the world why helping Haiti does truly help us all. We are focused on:

  • Improving the health and well-being of Haiti starting the children.
  • Providing a sustainable solution in every initiative we take on.
  • Assist with developing and deploying solutions with other NGOs and patriotic supporters of Haiti.
  • Driving highly effective and transparent fundraising initiatives that ensure the funds get allocated directly to the intended beneficiaries.

We'd like you to watch this short 1-minute video that a few of the Children of Gens-De-Nantes put together with the program directors.  We were not surprised to learn what many of the kids aspire to be when they grow up.    We'd like to thank Hernby Elvetus, the Director and General Manager of Gens-De-Nantes Orphans of Haiti Organization for sharing the videos and photos that help us tell you all their stories and newfound journey.

What is next for the Children of Gens-De-Nantes , Haiti?

We must help Hernby and his 55 kids. We need to raise $2375 through this fundraiser and your donations are needed. We have identified the cost of shoes, shipping estimates, communication and marketing, and administrative oversight and ground coordination. We’d like our donors to donate a minimum of $25. If we obtain this target amount then we need at least 88 donations for this fundraiser. As always should exceed this goal we will allocate the additional funds to other fundraising initiatives.
